When I first read The Scarlet Letter, I was amused at a particular word that I came across. At first sight it conveyed a deep gorge of flavor that although capable of scaring one in its extravagance mystifies the reader in its eloquence of conjoined syllables. A possible interpretation of this term could perhaps describe a punch of unforseen energy so powerful it knocks one into a new universe or a confrontation with a deity whose body was consituted by galaxies. Maybe phantasmagoric could come across as a word suggesting one's manipulative abilities and their sly and/or obscure appearance to others. The analogies illicited by this word seem nearly endless as vividly constructed as the word already is, which is why it is my all time favorite word in the english language.
