Grace Ow

Since I was young, I was a voracious reader and had a deep love of words and the way they could be used to convey meaning. I hope that my words and my stories would have a positive impact on others.

Reconstructed: Island Man

May 10, 2016

Another London day.

Muffling, muffling,
Island man heaves himself
His crumpled pillow waves.

And island man wakes up
to the sound of blue surf in his head,
Comes back to sands,
The steady breaking and wombing of a grey metallic soar,
Wild seabirds and fishermen pushing out to sea.
To surge of wheels,
To dull North Circular roar,
The sun surfacing defiantly
From the east of his small emerald island...
He always comes back groggily, groggily.
