Since I was young, I was a voracious reader and had a deep love of words and the way they could be used to convey meaning. I hope that my words and my stories would have a positive impact on others.

Every face that we see in a crowd has a story behind it. I am trying my best to listen, tell and share all the stories that I can.

PROMPT: Fissure

1
Your heart is an impregnable fortress
A castle full of thorns
The only thing that comes out of your mouth is fire,
And rain, that washes away the pain every night like tears

Your head is held high like a tower
Your eyes all steel curtains
Covering the windows of your soul
Hands in fists, you march down the corridors of life
Just like a soldier off to battle

Lately, you count the stars at night
Like a sailor lost at sea
Trying to find his way home
His anchor unmoored
Something is breaking in you
Coming undone in knots
Crumbling like walls in a castle

It is okay, to lay down your weapons to rust
Your heart is a castle for living, not guarding
Let the walls crumble like Jericho
Open the windows
And let the sunlight shine through the cracks

You have always been the bird with broken wings
