There is always hope.

"I certainly have not the talent which some people possess," said Darcy, "of conversing easily with those I have never seen before." (Jane Austen)

"All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost." (J.R.R. Tolkien)

"Nobody can be uncheered with a balloon." (A.A. Milne)

If you're here looking for something to read, some of my favorites are "Ten Wishes--A Poem", "Light", and "A Possibility". :)

and this is the part when I say eureka

I think I may have just remembered
that sometimes,
poetry—
no, sometimes,
art
is meaningful simply because it means
nothing, or
at least very little.
I have tried for so long to be
serious, and write something
important,
put words together in a way that will echo unforgotten
in someone else's mind but these
aspirations are vague and
much too philosophical to mean
much more than patterns found in
tree branches.
I
am a simple poet,
writing simple poems,
and I think we will all be better off
if I give up trying to reimagine stars
and go back to simply
pointing them out,
with a smile and a little laugh,
as if to say—
my smile mischevious now—
"Listen."

This is beautiful! I loved reading about your perspective on poetry. I too fall victim to trying to be something "inspirational".
