A Moment of Change
The poetics of change.
A famous quote from the poet Adrienne Rich reads, “The moment of change is the only poem.” This prompt is simple, dear writers, even if the theme of change is not: Compose a poem about a moment of change. This moment may have happened to you, a friend or family member, or even a fictional character. Reflect upon the internal and external nature of change: when does it become apparent? Is there foreshadowing? Resistance? Acceptance? Excitement? At what point does change become familiar, routine? Explore these questions and themes in your work. We look forward to reading your poems, and invite you to check out WtW ambassador Huda Ayaz's piece, "Changing Leaves,"
