we forget 
that happiness is most important 
and that building a barrier to others' happiness
is vile. 

we forget 
that we are all members of one body
bees in a hive
and that we should care. 

we forget
that the earth is dying
and we are the pathogens 
infecting. 

we forget
we have a debt to pay
to restore what we have broken
to mend. 

we forget
to smile and be kind
for we are too obsessed with 
transient power.
