your lessons

January 18, 2019

I don’t know how to write poetry
You do
I don’t know how to talk to people
You do
I don’t know how to say I love you
You do

There were so many thing I should’ve learned from you
The things I should’ve taken the time to trace over and over again
To listen to your voice and read your lessons

I spent too much time counting the seconds to realize the minutes I had left with you were limited
Too limited

I know you’ve moved on
To a boy who will listen to your lessons
Who will take notes and recite them back
Who will talk to you about emotions
But if for one moment
Even one
You miss me
I’ll be here with a paper and pen
Ready for your lessons

Thinking of this girl I used to date. I've dated a few people, and she was the only one I ever really loved. She broke up with me, and I saw her a few months ago after we hadn't really talked for a while... She is dating a guy that she liked the last time we talked. I thought I was over her, but seeing her with him just proved that I'm not... so THAT'S always fun! If this is a true story you wrote about a real person, I am so sorry! Just know that I am here for you, even though you have no idea who I am, let alone anything about me.
