Message to Readers

Hope you enjoy and can sympathise with the "mean" girl in your school. Everyone experiences different struggles in life and we shouldn't judge people solely from the person they show you on the outside. <3

The Mean Girl

January 22, 2019

A poem that achieves a different meaning when read backwards line by line.

She is the mean girl

We cannot say
She has felt our sadness
Battles a lack of self esteem
When we know that she
Lives under a coat of pretence
We cannot declare that she
Has feelings
And that she
Hurts and cries and bleeds like we do
We must acknowledge that she
Thinks she is superior
And that she
Always looks down upon us
It is not true that she
Struggles in her own way
Instead she
Chooses to be mean
We shouldn't say that she
Would be nice
If we gave her a chance, it
Would go to waste
Is worth a try with her
That comes out of her mouth is misleading
It is a lie to say that everything
Must be taken as the truth without judgement
Her words
Are false
Our perspectives
Understand the real 'mean' girl
We need to
Expose her
There is no need to
Show sympathy
We must
Accept that
She is different and
Disagree that

She is as vulnerable as we are

First read it down line by line and then start again from the bottom, reading line by line :)

This is the second of my backwardsforwards poems about misjudged personalities. You can find the first one (The A Plus Student) here:

I loved this. I think it's really true how some people think that this or that person is mean (sometimes without much reason too) and just settle it at that. So.. I love this, you've put to words what I want to tell everyone but never knew how to. It's impressive how this reads flawlessly either way- I think that starting from top is how society normally views and starting from the bottom is the advice everyone should really consider.
Once again I love love love this. <3
