sitting in a tight little container and watching
colorful blackness from on-high:
the pinprick lights sprawling & seeping
one moment, a great landscape unfurls
the next, eyes bathed in a starry blanket
high as the moon, cold as morning mist
& then the city once more:
offices—shops—little street corners—
their great depths lost amidst grander proportions
for a moment, i wish i could touch each
& reach through the endless mist between us
& understand everything small in the world.
how funny it is to think that
the sea of golden automobiles
should each contain the breath of a human
that each human should carry flaw & love
& expression—that, sitting crookedly
against my plastic windowpane, i can view so much
—for the spectator, most usually, glimpses all—
and still feel nothing…
still know of none of these things.

Wow, I never thought of it like that before, but once again... absolutely beautiful! I've always wanted to be a pilot, and this is like a dream come true from high above! I can see it so perfectly and it's gorgeous!
