MY FIRST CONTEST WINNERS (The #manateecontest one)

January 7, 2019

Hey everyone! I am going to be announcing my first contest winners (it's NOT the one where you entered in the comments.)

Thank you so much for entering! This was my first contest and I got 14 entries!!!! That is just unbelievable to me :D

So, before I announce the winners, (which is what you've all been waiting for), I want to say that I had such a tough time deciding the winners because all of the entries were soooooo amazing! It's crazy how beautiful these pieces are!

Also, one more thing, there is a tie for 3rd place, and a 3-way tie for the honorable mention so I'm just going to do three honorable mentions :D

And without further ado, the winners... (of course you're all winners!!)

1st place: Quille's piece: Part of Bryssa's Lament
This piece had so much beautiful imagery and I loved how the rhyming wasn't forced. The metaphors were also amazing!
My favorite line:
A blackness opened yawning before us,
The palace rocked with a shrieking chorus

2nd place: Xavier Nelson's piece: Love
This piece simply blew my mind. I love what the doll represents. Again, the imagery was incredible!
My favorite line:
Its heart
from dreams left to rot

A two way tie for 3rd place...

Dmoral13's piece: History of Roses
This is piece different from all the other entries. It described the background of roses and violets. It was incredibly beautiful, and I loved the sweet and bitter parts!
My favorite line:
Her name was Rose, that in this language that meant ‘innocent’.

J.A.'s piece: Rose
This piece was so stunning! Beautiful imagery again, and the opening and ending was just amazing!
My favorite line:
Together we created a world
Apart we each died on our own

The three honorable mentions...

Juliana's piece: Thorns
This piece was about a rose not having friends because it had thorns and no one wanted to get near it. I loved the description of the forest in the first paragraph. Also, I loved the message!
My favorite line:
The trees were a little taller, the bushes a little wider, the sky a little bluer.

korra4life's piece: Funeral
This piece is about a girl dying and the fake tears of people. Only the grandma really cares about the girl dying. This piece was so beautifully written and the image of sorrow that you created was just so real.
My favorite line:
False tears are dabbed upon with embroidered handkerchiefs in the wrinkled hands of those who use them.

Blotted Ink With a Broken Quill's piece: The Rose
This piece had such beautiful description and imagery! I loved the simple ending!
My favorite line:
The rose never once lost her velvety crimson coat

Early Pearl's piece: A Paper Rose
My favorite line:
So does a paper rose
mean a paper love?

Christy Wisdom's piece: A Rose's Defense
My favorite line:
showing the layers of the flower's personality
to those who love them.

Lissie's piece: The End of the World
My favorite line:
The trees are dying.
My roses are not growing.

Rose, Thorn's piece: #manatee contest
My favorite line:
Eventually the rose will die
as will I

stripedfly1001's piece: all roses have thorns
My favorite line:
Always ready to prick
Prick my finger, my heart
Either one worked
Both did, when he left

Ellie O'Grady's piece: The Desert's Rose
My favorite line:
Every night this place flares with fire, for the desert is a frightening place, and spitting from its cracked skin embers gathered a hundred miles away, the desert protects what is not its own, but is all that the desert, as a desert, can hold.

Hannah Gaudette - JoyfulWriter's piece: Forest of Peace
My favorite line:
Dusk encroached faster than lions in these woods.

*ALSO, I know that I said follows would be prizes for people who won, but I am going to give every single person who entered my contest a follow!

**Prizes will be coming your way soon!! I will be working on your reviews and stuff during this week!

***I hope I got all the links right :)

****Please let me know if I forgot to include your piece :/

It seems like "MadEnes" has been deleted from WTW, so I'd appreciate it if you could review "Journal Entry #75" instead
