WOTW Prompt #3 Ashes and Stars

On the darkest night
of my life
the stars shined brighter
than ever before.

But t'was a warning,
a warning of
what was to come,
fire and burning.

No sooner than
the moon had risen to
its peak,
ashes fell to the ground.

Like black snow.

Then everything was layered in ashes.

The imagery of ashes falling like snow makes me think of the Holocaust victims. Your piece is dark, like you said, but well-written.
