Message to Readers

And even after writing this poem, I still think ‘it’s not enough’ and put my black uni-ball pen down to write more (I really like black uni-ball pens they're probably my favourite kind of pen of all time)

FREE WRITING

5
A shocking cry of colours
As black bites into white
The only protest a scratch
Of pen on paper

The dark ichor flows and stretches
Dances and sighs to uncalculated halts
Leaving screaming lines of emotions
Loitering behind like a lost puppy

The paper itself is greedy
Lapping up the ink with relish
It drinks and drinks and drinks
It's only limit is to be insatiable

A wish to scribble is born
The purpose only to feel again
The eager swallowing of Stygian text
Settling into a radiant medium

And this juxtaposed duo of worlds
Is what pulls you to write
To put midnight pen on morning paper
To watch your words find anchor in the tangible

You long to watch the pen sweep
Across the pages, left to right
The rest only to find a reason to keep going
To keep satisfying an ever-growing desire

The deep-seated pull in your chest
That drags out the howling passion to compose
That pulls you out of your trivial activities
And beckons you into a welcoming desk chair

Watching coal flowers bloom and blossom
Yet never to wither on hungry sheets
As they live on in your words
Live on forever in your black pen and white paper
So sometimes I feel like writing purely because of how the white paper of my poem draft book will just hungrily absorb the ink that flows out of my pen, and it pushes me to write more because I want to see all my ideas become concrete and tangible. So basically yup, it's a poem about the feeling of never-ending hunger and appetite that my pen, my paper and I all seem to share when it comes to writing. If any of that makes sense, that is.

"Watching coal flowers bloom and blossom/ Yet never to wither on hungry sheets" what a sentence. Lots of beautiful imagery, and the intention of conveying the desire to put pen on paper is carried across nicely.

Can totally relate to this; notebooks look so nice when they're full of writing! I love the wording you used and the rhythm of this piece; the two work together in perfect harmony :DD
