Hi, I'm too busy and I do too much yay
I typically dabble in a lovely slice of journalism, a dash of fiction, a sprinkle of poetry, a spoonful of comedy sketches and a splash of reviewing
I ought to concoct more often than I do - sorry in advance

Message to Readers

I really wanted to write something about this topic but I'm kind of stuck as to how I should edit this? It's only the first draft but I'd really appreciate some of your feedback (I was going for a poem but it ended up kind of like a spoken word piece). Thank you! :)

People change
The world changes
Rotating on its axis every 24 hours
365 days of orbit
around the sun
And that’s ok
Change is good
But sometimes a change in the opposing direction is necessary
To stop what’s inevitable
To keep what’s precious and invaluable and brilliant and wonderful and marvellous
“But it’s wrong” they say
“Should be cut” they say
Cut from the heights and the glory that history has praised
Yet it’s wrong? Not important? Not valued any longer by the state?
Why?
Why is there so much more to other things
When so few end up prizing what’s meant to be prized
The foundations of all that we are
As the world changes
Rotating on its axis every 24 hours
365 days of orbit
around the sun
And that’s ok
Change is good

But sometimes a change in the opposing direction is necessary
Because the whirlwind of technology and development that everybody craves
Is only possible when we make it possible
And in that it is evident we need the creativity to make it possible
So if government and state would desire this world to develop,
Then give the next generation the right tools we require to think outside the box
To think, to wonder, to gaze and laugh and keep this going
This age-old heritage of culture and literature
And art and music and language and drama and
Neverending impossibility
Because the world is only the world as it is with these things,
Conquering impossibility as was meant to be conquered all those years ago
Constantly thriving and changing and succeeding through creativity
The world changes
Rotating on its axis every 24 hours
365 days of orbit
around the sun
And that’s ok
Change is good

But sometimes a change in the opposing direction is necessary
When the children cover their ears and eyes to the wonders of the universe
That which would have enabled them to do so much more
And yet they would deny them this right?
And yet, they would.
They would do it, oh so willingly,
Sentencing the world to its imaginative execution
A punishment so unjust when it has given so much more
Than we credit it for
So let’s give one another the chance
From first breath of life to final rasping inhalation,
Maintaining all these wondrous things
Not enough will admit to any longer
So as the world changes
Rotating on its axis every 24 hours
365 days of orbit
around the sun
That’s ok
Change is good

But sometimes a change in the opposing direction is necessary
The great physicist himself Mr Einstein once said
“Imagination is more important than knowledge”
A quote often forgotten, lost in the midst of his genius and hard work
When really, if we think about it,
The imagination was what got him where it got him in the first place
You see without it, nobody would have known his potential
Without it, nobody can know our potential
If you think,
If you think,
Then the reality is
That everything we know and love and learn and do
Could not be done without the imagination of those
We so admire today
The world changes
Rotating on its axis every 24 hours
365 days of orbit
around the sun
And that’s ok
Change is good

But sometimes a change in the opposing direction is necessary
When all those of differing abilities,
Class, age and colour
Cannot come together in the wonder of the arts
Cannot express themselves the way that they are
Just because they are differing abilities,
Class, age and colour
They cannot have the option to do such good things
That will benefit them whatever others may say
Now let me confirm these things are strictly speaking
Better than the Great Academics the institutions adore so
They too encourage useful skills, of course
But in order to truly excel
It's undeniable the stats set it out for all to see
Bright and clear -
Creative skills are the key to unlock these things
Whatever others may say
The world changes
Rotating on its axis every 24 hours
365 days of orbit
around the sun
And that’s ok
Change is good

But ultimately the changes
Can be so disastrous
Without those who made them at first even knowing
The extent of their power,
Their influence,
Their actions,
Coursing through city upon city until the remnants are entirely
Removed, restricted,
Tearing so many lives in two,
When those few could have been even more
Gaining a thirst for the knowledge of that which is random and ridiculous
But loved.
The world changes
Rotating on its axis every 24 hours
365 days of orbit
around the sun
And that’s ok

Yet if imagination is more important than knowledge,
Surely some change is needed for the good of the world
To keep creative juices flowing that simply ought to be flowing
And still, more of us
Should realise
Before this change affects too many, and it’s too late.
