The Novel I'm Writing in 12 Songs

By: A Breath Into Silence

PROMPT: Mixtape

Saturn by Sleeping At Last
"You taught me the courage of stars before you left"
Let's face it, Garen, it's you.
The Scientist by Coldplay
"Questions of science, science and progress"
You know where this ends, don't you, Aiela?
Blood Red Roses by C21 FX
"The depths, they wouldn't claim her"
Cardinal. Honestly. This is your angst song.
Clocks by Coldplay
"Tides that I tried to swim against / have brought me down upon my knees"
                            Galithan. Oh, Galithan.
The Sound of Silence by Simon & Garfunkel
"But my words like silent raindrops fell"
I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For by U2
                "But yes, I'm still running"
Sage, this is you in 4 minutes and 37 seconds.
Here I Am by the Boxer Rebellion
                "I follow blindly, however unlikely"
Paige! Look! I found you a song!
Pluto by Sleeping At Last
"Show me where my armor ends / show me where my skin begins"
Far too many of the characters in this novel.
Out of Time by Hidden Citizens
"Do you think you can hide?"
Lora. But not. Because one song does not do her justice.
Mister Jones by Counting Crows
"Mister Jones and me tell each other fairy tales"
Sorry, Arthur and Everett. But it's true.
Don't Stop Believing by Journey
"Oh, the movie never ends/ it goes on and on and on and on"
How I'm approaching this story - with the assumption that the end of the novel isn't the end of the world.
Scars to Your Beautiful by Alessia Cara
"No scars to your beautiful, we're stars and we're beautiful"
My feelings towards all of these wonderful characters born of ink and paper that breathe like they are of flesh and blood.

Message to Readers

If I had to turn this book into a mixtape, this is what it would end up as. Strange, but beautiful.

Peer Review

I see that this person has a very scientific kind of mindset.

I would choose "Brave" by Sara Berilles. I would choose this song because it is a very similar song to "Scars To your Beautiful," This song is a great motivational song, and has a great message of always speak the truth.

Reviewer Comments
