I repeatedly read Harry Potter, Narnia, Percy Jackson, Heroes of Olympus, Trials of Apollo, Laura Ingalls, or Anne of Green Gables. When I'm not reading, I’m writing, grudgingly doing some homework, singing, playing the piano, or my flute.

At home, I am told, Be grateful for food and TV, for cold and hot water and blankets and clothes and people who love you.
I am. I promise.
At school, I am told, Be grateful for books and friends, for lockers and computers and teachers who are willing to be here.
I am. I promise.
And when I walk home I am grateful for the trees and the dew and the sky.
And when I go to my grandparents' house I am grateful for gardens and pianos and clean air.
And when I take trips I am grateful for cars and airplanes and suitcases and hotels and pools and tourist hot-spots.
But I'm still waiting for the day when I figure out how to be grateful for myself.
It is my opinion that people have too great a love for material possessions.
