PROMPT: In the House

the dove embellished box

        w
            n
the hollowed stairs
lays on warm wood
smelling of seasons past
and cinnamon left in cups
never meant to be stirred

in nighttime whispers
when words remain in dreams
the doves begin to sing
but the lock remains without a key

the words no one remembers
but the dreams carry them
not resembling letters
but paintings with    t   h  o   u   s   a   n  d   s    of strokes
and songs with unheard melodies

although the music's animated
the box remains in mere dust

    I usually don't like those visual poems where people adjust the lettering placement, but wow ... I think I can see why people like it.

    Your second stanza really makes me want to have hot chocolate and sit by the fire. I can smell all those woody, lovely scents ... ahh ... You really did a good job.

    this is truly beautiful. when writing a poem it's almost just as important to make the phrases look visually attractive, and this is excellent. you are always so good with words!!

    The imagery you paint here is just so vivid and real I can practically feel it. I love the experimentation here with visual poetry, especially the swirling thing, it really builds up the poem even more. Fantastic work!
