I can’t remember the last time I’ve stared into your brilliant eyes
The ones that capture the entirety of the sky in two identical spheres
And lead into a mind
That thinks bigger than the world could ever contain

Sometimes I try to imagine
Whether or not those eyes would widen or narrow
At what I had grown into
Without you

I can’t remember the last time I’ve traced the strands of your braided brown hair
With my obviously entranced eyes
Trying to take in every detail I could
Because I feared that memories of you would run out one day

When I have nothing else to think about
I like to wonder whether or not
You still wear it in that neat braid crown like you’ve always done
Though I always thought it would look nice if you wore it out

Do you think about me
The way I think about you?
Or are you the kind of person
Who doesn’t let themselves fall into past traps?

I am not that kind of person
So I beg that this message reaches you
Wherever you are:
Please remember me
