Blurred Corners

June 21, 2018

A tangled string is at the edge of my mind,
hidden away in a dusty corner,
not noticeable at first glance,
but always a shadow behind me,
it is the bitterness in warm coffee,
the sweetness in cold tea,
it covers my eyes,
fizzling like a 60's film,
only free when the cinema lights turn on;
it is hazy in my chest,
making me numb to the frigid winter wind,
it carries me like a paper airplane,
lost in the storm that began with a little swallow's flight,
it whips around me in a tornado of words with no meaning,
their cracked shells with stale air inside,
it disconnects me,
the edges are blurring,
the memories are fading,

The sugar is no longer sweet.

This poem paints a unique picture in my head. I love the figurative language you used. Keep writing!

This is awesome!! I especially like the lines about the tea and coffee, and you tied them nicely together with the bold final line. Great job! Keep writing and God bless!! ;3
