Lone Apple Tree

1
I remember a lone apple tree,
Standing among a sea of pears,
I remember clambering to the very top,
Reaching out to grab the ripest of fruit,
Leaning on an oak ladder,
My friends willing me on.
I remember falling, falling, falling, falling.

I remember a lone apple tree,
Standing among a sea of pears,
I remember being called to it,
To the thickest part of the grove,
I stumbled across it,
Looking for anything but pears.
I remember leaping, leaping, leaping, leaping.

I remember a lone apple tree,
Standing among a sea of pears,
I remember not knowing what it was,
For it's fruit was the oddest and rare,
The skin was firm and rosy,
It's seeds small and brown.
I remember wondering, wondering, wondering, wondering.

I remember a lone apple tree,
Standing among a sea of pears,
I remember the adventure of climbing it,
The accomplishment of finding it,
The joy of tasting it.
I remember longing, longing, longing, longing,
To sleep among the apples too.

This was such a lovely poem. I loved how you used repetition and how smooth the gradual progression of this piece was. Beautiful!
