FREE WRITING

I am struggling to understand a world
Where life is not a fable -
A manuscript tossed, the pages furled,
Upon a writer's table.

I can't create the earth I want
With the movement of my pen -
People bleed more than ink and stars
And don't rise up again.

A lifetime can't be shaped into
The corners of a smile -
And minutes can't be stretched to fill
The cracks in every tile.

You can't give retribution
For every tear cried -
And what happened and what should have done
Don't always coincide.

When you're allowed to live in clichés
And the lines that fate has cast -
You've some purpose to the plot, and life...
It doesn't go so fast.

It's desperate, not romantic,
To cry and fall and drink -
And things are never simple as
My words would have you think.

But emotion was not formed between
The pages of a book -
Love was not meant to be contained
In that first, tentative look.

That paper life will crumple
When I hold it to the light -
I must step into the mess
And leave my dreaming to the night

This is really good, also your bio description is so like me it's a bit chilling haha (love reading, writing, tea, drama, music and singing, and write mostly poetry as well)

Powerful, I love the way you ended it. The rhyming was nice as well. Great job.
