A Glow

April 2, 2018

I watch on the cliff,
my mirrored reflection,
the girl I once knew,
who loved with reckless abandon.

A fire once glowed,
a light used to shine,
but the sun's radiance doesn't climb the walls,
of the prison she kept,
her heart of hearts.

Her eyes once danced in laughter,
while her soul skipped through the stars,
but the world crashed down with the weight of the universe,
and she slowly sank into the ground,
of the silver glass shards that we're made of,
where we littered the dirt with our broken smiles.

I sit here today,
watching the moon,
with the waves writhing below,
and echoing in my crippled soul.

This is a beautiful poem. I love the imagery it conveyed as I read it. I especially loved the line, "while her soul skipped through the stars." I love how you wrote the poem and the descriptives words. I like the second to last stanza.
