PROMPT: The Unknown

I do not know much about the world to be quite frank, 
I shelter myself away from it,
I prefer to read about it instead of seeing it for myself.
I don't always know how to act or what to say
and I definitely don't know most of the things most people know
By scientific standards, I know barely anything of the technicalities,
of how it works, or of the tiny particles that make up the planet
but I do know the world isn't such a big place
I know the sun still shines during the darkest hours
and I know people aren't as different as they appear to be,
I know behind every mask there is a story,
I know that every future is a map and that God is the cartographer.
I know one day I'm going to have to go out and face the world,
be part of it, so to speak,
but until then I'd rather just watch and learn.

I love this, because even though you may not know much about the 'scientific' aspect of the world, you know about humanity. And really, isn't that what's most important? Getting to know each other, and reaching out to touch another person's heart. :)

Sometimes it's best to 'watch and learn', rather than talking. We all need to remember this. :)

A quiet calm. Knowing that even though there will be dark days, I can still be a light to someone. And other people will be there to help me up when I fall. :)

Great piece! I love how you begin almost passively, then explain more fervently exactly what you know about the world, and finally resolve the poem with calm. :)
