Message from Writer

I'm a young storytellin' gal just over a month shy of being an actual, legal adult . . . that's a scary thought.
My writing passion is fiction/high fantasy, but every now and then I pop out an edgy poem or two about my feelings.
I am also a theatre kid. 100%. If writing is my passion, then acting is my dream.
I just love to tell good stories any way I can.

A Question For My Fellow Fiction Writers

March 6, 2018

At what point do your favorite original characters . . . become imaginary friends?

I may be slightly attached to my children--I mean, my characters.

Ahhh, yeah, I gotcha. I don't think I quite have an alter-ego yet, but I like to blame (and give credit for) certain aspects of, well, me, on my various characters. Like when Finn goads me into talking to someone I don't know, or Kit tells me to stop and look up at the night sky and appreciate how beautiful it is, or when Rowan sits silently next to me sympathetically when I'm in a mood.
Frankly, I don't think I could live without them.

...With mine, he hasn't become my imaginary friend. He is my alter ego. Seriously, I have become Glytch Montoya, at least on the inside. (You know how people will scold themselves for doing stupid things, saying it in the third person? Well, one of the most common things I say to myself is "Focus, Glytch! Focus!")

All the time! They just understand me more...he, hehe, isn't that right, G.G. Winward?

In all seriousness, as soon as I get my character into my story, they become a part of my "family" (imaginary friendssssssss)

I usually make my characters based on a better version of myself or people in my life so it's kind of the other way around most of the time for me. When I am missing a friend that moved away a couple years ago, I think of one of my characters that I based off of her.

Right??? They make wonderful companions, even if Finnegan can get a little . . . mischievous.

Uh... I kinda bring them into my life as soon as they come into my stories, sometimes even before.

ALL THE TIME. I have one named Simon, and every time I'm making a choice, I ask myself, "what would Simon do?" He's basically real to me, and I see a bunch of stuff every day that reminds me of him.
