Australian Summer

By: Jenna Matus

Sunburnt soul.
Whining cicadas in dying light.
The bush blazes.

The second line brings out what Australia looks like. I imagine a dry field, and one little twig holding up a cicadas, who's singing in the dim light of the sun that's passing over the earth before it rests beneath the hills.
But obviously, I used more than ten words. ;)
You did a great job describing where you live in only ten words! That's hard to do.

Barrenness. That's just the picture I get. Loneliness also, to some extent. And obviously heat. ;)
