You were the one thing that caught my tears after she left us that day. My father's mother was so kind because she gave me you but then she left and all I had was you. Then I was forced to leave you to that wretched child who tore you limb from limb. I miss the way your branches fit my every nook and cranny. I miss the way you caught my tears every time I cried. I miss the way you seemed to smile even though you have no face. I loved the way you were mine. I think of you all the time. I hope that child has realized what a great friend you can be. I wouldn't ever wish you loneliness. Oh dear tree, how I miss you so. Even though you weren't mine by the laws of nature, you still live inside my soul.
