What do you do when you're in a toxic love, you know it, but you can't get out of it?

Fix Myself

December 12, 2017

Tell me what I have to do
To make you see who I am;
Tell me what lengths to go to
To make you understand.

Liking me and loving me
Are things that you do not; but
Resenting me, deserting me,
You treat me like I'm naught;
Tell me how you scribble out
The stars my eyes do flash?
Explain to me how without a doubt
You push me down, so I crash.

To me it's bitterly clear-
The way you brush me off-
That it's a nuisance, me being near,
You see me and you scoff.

I don't believe you really know
How highly of you I see.
For I will redo every stitch and sew
Of myself, be your perfect image of me.

I will indeed fix myself
To match just what you want.
Stow my flaws far on the shelf,
Then it might be me you flaunt;
To your family, to your friends,
To everyone and more,
You wouldn't have to pretend--
For once, I'd be who you adore!

I'll change my entire being
If it shall please your highness.
I'm nothing if by you not seen.
For that, though, I blame my shyness;
So please just come up, be blunt,
And tell me who to be.
I know I'm helpless, please be front.
If you don't like it, I don't want to be me.
