Mother Earth's Arsenal

PROMPT: Into the Woods

Acres of arrows
pointed toward the skies,

With spare heads
laced with gold
both at dusk and at dawn.

Pine needles for fletchers,
they wave in her breath.

Earth bound.
The nocks are set in the soil,
with roots for bow strings.

The curve of her core,
serving well as the arrow rest.

Mother Earth has an arsenal of trees at her disposal
not to combat with us,
but rather with what we've done with our own freewill.

On standby,
they guard existence.

When hacked down
at the base of their shaft,
they turn to impale us.
