within galaxies

August 9, 2015

my mp3 player is a fragile catharsis;
troubles melt into darkness beneath bedcovers.

songs are arranged into playlists;
random constellations
found within galaxies of sound.

i rarely listen to the radio;
better to trust in my own bizarre melodies
than programme my mind with preselected songs
written for the people who aren't brave enough
to find their own stars.

the music lasts as long as the night;
sometimes static clouds the sky
but it will clear away before dawn.

my soundtracks revolve like planets
and i will press replay once too often -
i'd rather let time dim these lights
than get up to face the sun.
I love both music and space, and I liked the idea of juxtaposing the two. Hope you enjoy!
