PROMPT: Becoming Human

3
With the wistful sigh,
She gazed at the world down far below
Wondering what it would be like to be one of them.
For you see, she was stuck with this moral obligation
This never-ending cycle.
She longed to dip her toes into the sandy beaches
And giggle as dewy grass tickled the underside of her bare feet.
Although she controlled the tides with the simple flick of her wrist
She often wondered what it would be like to swim beneath the waves,
To feel her lungs, burn from having to hold her breath.
She wanted to walk on the cobble streets of a big city
And gape at the big clock tower
Or stay up late, dancing in the city that never sleeps.
But she was caught behind the cage of responsibility,
No matter how hard she tried rattling the cold steel bars,
And instead, she wept at a life that she could only dream of.
