Maybe sleep is a lie
A social construct

Then you and I could chat
Until the sun pierced through the clouds
All through the night

The stars could swirl and melt like slush
They could bleed into the navy sky
And lighten it to a yellowy light grey

Time would be no constraint
We wouldn't have to think
"I should sleep you should sleep"
Or feel guilty as the clock spun round like a spider's web

Maybe sleep is a lie?
I grin and smile and almost give in
Like a crumbly pack of cards

If sleep wasn't a thing
If it was like mist
That, when you shine a light on it,
Melts away in a haze
Then maybe I'd stay for hours past whatever "sensible" is

Maybe sleep is a lie
I mean - who really knows?
I guess if we really wanted
To be sure then the only thing to do would be to stay up and test it...
This isn't really a serious poem haha - just a fun random weird one I wrote at midnight :)
