You would've thought
That the more time to heal
The better things get
But sometimes
It feels like
It's just more time to bleed

And sometimes
Things hit you like a blow to the chest
Leaves you crying up at the ceiling
With two tears carving a path down the side of your face
Just above the cheek - one for each eye
*defeated sigh*
It's passive and it's pointless

It's been 9 months since we were friends
Nine months but it feels like two
Because of time's frantic cascade that I can barely follow
*defeated sigh because I feel hollow*

it's not unfair it's not unfair it's not unfair

But why does it still hurt?

Follows on from my poem "Is". With lockdown and everything I've felt like time's been moving super quickly - I can't believe it's already July. The fact it's really been nine months since I was friends with this person just came at me out of nowhere and hit me really hard. I should point out that none of this is my friends fault in any way and that, really it's not a big thing at all. Anyway - sorry for the personal poem.

The repeated "it's not unfair" and then the one-line stanza that follows hit so well ack
