Message from Writer

"There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you."
"Love recognizes no barriers. It jumps hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls to arrive at its destination full of hope."
"You may write me down in history with your bitter, twisted lines. You may trod me in the very dirt, but still, like dust, I'll rise."

Cutting Trees

April 22, 2021

They crumple and the brown and they burn,
As the heat of summer rises.

Stroke the trunks of the trees,
A deadly embrace.

The leaves
Exploding into sparks,
Catching quicker than Katniss Everdeen,
The world burns,
And we can't stop it.

The veins of the leaf,
Were life,
Rivers in tiny form,
Carving mountains of green paper,
The carry

The weight of the world is upon them,
For just one simple need,
To grow,
And flourish,
And breathe
So the world can take a breath
And not choke.

So why are we burning?
And breaking?
And cutting?
And shaking?
Why are we bringing it all to the ground?
The people
Are players,
The earth
The chessboard,
The chainsaws,
Kings and Queens.

Light streams through
Turning the ground
The color
Of earth-blood,
The color
Of our lives.
We rely
On the things we destroy,
And if our weapon choice defines us,
We choose axes,
Think on what that means.
