I am doing my best to come back, I keep on leaving but maybe this will be the time that I stay

Home is Outside

April 8, 2021

Home is not confined within walls
It is not adorned with fresh paint
Layered with pictures in the halls
Made up of money and our greed

It is feet planted on the uneven dirt ground
Standing amongst the glorious blue sky
Enchanted by the endless mountain sound
The dazzling entrance of the hillside

It is red rock cliffs painted with time
Shining in the morning desert light
Cliffs built from sandstone and lime
Water and wind sculpted a glorious sight

A squirrel running eagerly across the street
A regular city sidewalk with a few simple trees
Wildlife living with us humans and concrete
Always ignored yet still tenacious and constant

It is the night sky that is slowly fading away
Our lights take over one of the things we still have left
We let the stars disappear and I beg for them to stay
As the thing that is home is being destroyed

This was a terrible title, but here is my interpretation of home.
