sympathy for the moon

April 8, 2021

us humans, have always had a love for
the sun, we dance, play, sing, learn, live
underneath its' golden rays, but when
nighttime comes around, we crawl into
bed and drift off to sleep, and i wonder
does the moon get lonely when we close
our curtains and our eyes while she is up
in the sky? do the wolves howl to her out
of sympathy? do fireflies light up out of
pity? does the moon cry, when wildlife
comes out to comfort her, while we are
fast asleep, curled up in our beds?

i'm binge-reading your work while trying to find inspiration myself, and i must say, i'm really sorry that i didn't find this account sooner. the work you do here is so beautifully crafted -- there is some sort of magic inside of your words, something that i cannot begin to describe. i think i might come here more often when i'm looking for something to spark my creativity.

This is something I've always wondered, from a little kid to now. You simply put my thoughts into a beautiful string of poetry.

re: omggggg okay sorry this might be rant-y-ish (sorry lol)... my mom's cousin kate loves mws and my mom hates him, so they argue about him a lot. for like, no reason. aunt kate is the most argumentitive person i've ever met *shakes head due to spelling argumentitive wrong and not bothering to look it up*

RE: Of course! And wow, that's so cool, it definitely sounds like a very idyllic area. I'm so glad you can relate with the memories thing. :)

I really like this! I think that this line really sums it up nicely:
i wonder does the moon get lonely when we close
our curtains and our eyes while she is up
    in the sky

I like how you used all of the animals in the poem to show how sad the moon is, you did an excellent job of showing how they are trying to comfort the moon. You definitely got the message across, it's an absolutly beautiful poem :)

I love how you personify the moon. I really love how you capture the mysterious beauty of the moon that humans often overlook.

Oooh I really like this- the ending is such a way to end "curled up in our beds" it just gives such a sense of finality. Also haha, I know this doesn't rhyme but I'm so used to reading my spoken word aloud that I'm reading this like one and it sounds so melodic!
