most if not all of my pieces have songs linked to them. give them a listen, you might like what you hear.

i hope the next decision you make brings you happiness.

town without a face

April 5, 2021

the roads are the same in every town.
colored like coffee cream, tastes
bitter like the smoke coming out of
the factory. blue sky, slightly grey.
cirrus clouds blanketing the ocean
ceiling, like pressing a pillow over a
mouth. breathing silently is romanticized;
sometimes, there is no breathing at
all. all of these houses lining the streets
like a hem on denim. rotten wooden
signs, a bullet hole or two around the
wild west lettering. a longhorn silhouette
to attract tourists, the scent of soiled
hay wafting out of the barn. milkmen
still exist here, they sell their nostalgia
and white fluids. a few broken bottles
hang from trees. liquor or milk, it doesn't
make a difference. the scorching cement
eats through the sole of our shoes, like
this is what being baked alive feels like.
father washes the stained bedsheet,
doesn't clip it right and watches the wind
tear off the clothesline. our eyelashes
clumped together, skin cracking like
cooked mud. the car's window is already
smothered with dust; don't let the sun
melt the glass. after a year or two we'll
come again, re-memorize the murals and
the red brick houses. re-mark the streets
with our wary footsteps. get some water
and remember what the sky looks like. we
do not know the history of this town and
these eroded streets. and we never will.

for the best experience, read while listening to the music.

wrote on whim. not very edited. not very good.

"all of these houses lining the streets
    like a hem on denim."
Ooh that is such a unique and striking similie and I'm in love with it.
    "the car's window is already
smothered with dust; don't let the sun
melt the glass. after a year or two we'll
come again, re-memorize the murals and
    the red brick houses."
    That's my second-favorite line.
