Message from Writer

"Words gather desire inside your head
Gathering emotions, gathering feeling, gathering
Meaning, gaining a purpose other than being
Becoming something other than words, other than
Thoughts ricocheting through my mind breaking through to the
Outside, darting to others, creating a spark in their hearts
My words just start in my
Head but never end there

Find Me in the Drunken Wood (5 short poems)

April 10, 2021

Find me in the drunken wood
Where my screams ring clearer than the toll of bells
The trees shrink away from it, creatures don't dwell
In this land of hatred, all it repels
Until my voice runs hoarse and the night quells
My anger, my fears, that drew me to yell
Until all is quiet, night casts its spell
Of peace in the drunken wood

Find me in the drunken wood
Shrouded by the gnarled fingers of trees
The cricket's symphony echoes loudly as
Dappled deer graze and a gentle breeze
Rustles the fiery flowers, the moon whereas
Bathes in a deeper blue sky than the seas
Casting its net to lull us to sleep as it has
For eternity, so come dream in the drunken wood

Find me in the drunken wood
If you're ever so inclined, you should
Come talk to me and say goodbye
Pathetic, apologetic, for me you should cry
For the girl you never knew, never saw
You assumed the road was clear, ignored the law
That says you can't leave the scene of the crime
Only I did to die in the wood's mud and grime
And you went home safe with a dent on your hood
Come atone for your sins in the drunken wood

Find me in the drunken wood
A world of gaiety and laughter await
Celebrate the fight our troops withstood
With beer and whiskey, our thirst we'll sate
Soon we'll return home to our worried wives
Bring news of victory, in all likelihood
We'll drink and sing again, buzz like bees in their hives
For now, we'll raise our flasks in the drunken wood

Find me in the drunken wood
As the moon shades the world with its shimmering veil
Out in the world we must hide, so now we bail
To the secluded comfort of trees when we could
To finally look at you the way I can't, but should
When others are looking too, but the woods are fair
The trees can't disagree of the love that we share
Steal each fleeting night, cherish it as we should
Run away with me in the drunken wood
I wanted to try making a collection of poems under the same title and using the same prompt. The one I chose has a lot of different uses, and I could write more if I wanted to, but I thought 5 was good start, especially with the fact that each has a different tone and mood. I hope you liked them! Which was your favorite?

I love this!! It is such an interesting title and concept and I read it like five times! It is so magical and really moved me; you have so much talent. I am obsessed with all of the poems and how they all carried so much magnitude; your poems really had me in my feelings and I cannot wait to see what you share next!
