UPDATE 4.8.21: FEARLESS (TAYLOR'S VERSION) IS OUT NOW AHHHHHHHH PEOPLE i gotta sleep but i'm listening to the title track rn! also who's obsessed with "Mr. Perfectly Fine"?!
ORIGINAL MESSAGE:
This changed and shifted as my fingers flew freely over the keys, words pouring straight from my soul into yours.

If one person is touched by your words, you do not labor in vain.

You may never know the impact you have on someone's life. I mean it. Even they might not realize it yet.
I know there are people I admire who have shaped me who don't know it.
I constantly remind myself that I know nothing, or very little, of what is going on in others' lives. Even with my closest friends. So I take it day by day, trying to be there for them. Trying to listen, to love, to support, to reassure, to just be there.

"And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love."
1 Corinthians 13:13 (NIV)

(evidently i'm in a solemn yet inspired mood)
much thanks and love to all of you good people :)

there is more. there is hope. there is another way.

April 8, 2021

it's okay
to not be okay
for now
for a while
for just a moment
for longer than you'd like to admit

but hold on, hold on ever so tightly
to the hope
that one day
someday
even soon
it will get better.

if i may be so bold as to remind you
there is hope.
there is light at the end of the tunnel—
even if you must trudge through miles of snow
and gale-force winds
and arid deserts without a speck of rain in sight
and pouring skies that never relent
and heartbreak
and misery
there is light.
and i believe that, in the end
good triumphs over evil
forever and ever.

isn't that the greatest challenge of our time?
past the scars and the surface
where injustice and agony lurk
the desperation to not feel desperate any longer
the need for hope.
the need for something more.

and you wonder whether life has more to offer than this rat race
this push and pull, this give and take that does nothing more than exhaust and drain the people
who are trapped in the complacency of Western suburban life with their
2.5 children and 2-car garages that fester with broken appliances and untouched trophies of long-gone glory days
where people linger on only the good things of the past and fear the future

yes, my friend.
there is more.
there is hope.
there is another way.

there is a book—66 compiled books, actually—called the Holy Bible
and now you sigh and shake your head and debate whether to close this tab
because you've tried the "religion" thing before
and you think it's a nice idea, or a fantastic mystery, or a misused ideology
but this book
it really covers everything you could ask for in life
every struggle
every reassurance

i used to think
i needed the right words, the right evidence, tight-knit theology
to convince you, not only that God exists, but that He is good and merciful
but now i realize
that's really not my job
i cannot do anything to change your heart
(because that's where it must begin)
and i hope i don't
i hope He does.

He is the only One who can
completely and fully restore
who can heal every scar on your soul
every rift, every crack in your armor
and all i am here to do
is to let you know the truth of that
and be here
patiently
hope-filled
staying out of God's way
so that He can continue the marvelous works he has begun in you.

there is more.
there is hope.
there is another way.

OK, this is a beautiful piece. It's inspiring and hopeful.

Replying: If you do end up doing it, could you send me the link or at least let me know? I'd love to read it! (Only if you want to, of course.)

this is such an inspiring reminder of truth. i've been struggling with the idea of not being able to save my friends, when that may not be my job at this moment, or ever. your third to last stanza spoke to me and that healing wound, so to speak. re: your comment made me so happy! you interpreted it the way i was hoping to come across so that's great. and i wish they were real places. i didn't want to set this on earth because i want to introduce different creatures, so i kind of tried to hit the natural wonders of the world but make them be in different areas with different names.

dude you're not "something cool" you're like..the cool cousin you see once a year, but the conversation you guys were having a long time ago picks up where it left off without missing a beat.

..does that make sense? i hope it does?
