FREE WRITING

19

you've always written circles around me.
as i am a poet,
i could call you a muse,
but you're so much more than a myth.

you are every poem i cannot write.
alive and messy and glorious...
oh, i felt so bright
when you looked at me.

because you did
look at me.
you asked for a pencil,
and i thought it was a dream.
hands trembling,
they gave you that piece of me.

and i almost said something,
but i was afraid you'd still hate me, so
these traitorous lips
were sealed.

yes, i am a poet,
desperately trying to string together my feelings
and put them on display
for no one to see.

    "yes, i am a poet,
desperately trying to string together my feelings
    and put them on display
for no one to see." I love this. I dont always feel like a poet more of a lost being trying to find the way back in the world through words

This was so beautiful! I swear it gets better and better with every line and yet I can't even choose a perfect one because they're all perfect! "I could call you a muse,
but you're so much more than a myth." was just oh my, my heart melted! and the ending- aww, I feel so bad for Anthony! and I love how you worked in the flaws he sees past (or well imperfections I should say) when you say "messy" but "glorious" right after! I can't wait to read the next part!

I love how this is like a dramatization of everything Anthony is experiencing with Emily. It would be a good Broadway play. "For Emily..."

This is so pretty and simple yet relatable. I just love how emotional your writing it is, and how you pair it with so much simplicity.

Yes! "writing is an escape as I try to figure out my new reality." Such an eloquent ay to describe it. I am so glad we have found each other. Add I am sorry you are going are struggling with a chronic as well. This poem is lovely by the way. Every word is impeccably placed

Re: Thank you! Yellow Sweater is actually the user name I use on other sites so I just decided I would keep it consistent. The name actually comes from a short store I wrote a couple years ago:)

And yes I am disabled. I have a chronic illness called, ME, or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome which basically leaves me bedridden for most of the time. It am still learning how to deal with it. Writing has been one of my major coping mechanisms.
