I use reading and writing as an escape, a way to see the world from different eyes, and a way to live the life I dream of.

Message to Readers

If you feel out of place, or weird, or silly for always dreaming big, know that you are not alone. The imagination is our purest form of self-reflection, and is meant to be let out and expressed. So go ahead, keep dreaming, I insist:)

To My Dear Dreamers

Here's to the dreamers. The ones that are told they are wasting their time.
The many that have their head in the clouds and their nose in a book.
Here's to the individuals that dream in colors and speak in rhymes.
The ones that see magic in darkest places where others are unwilling to look.
They are constantly staring out their bedroom window watching the creatures pass by.
You might even find them tinkering a story up in their mind.
They are always creating, imagining, thinking. Always finding new things to try.
Not many still hold this rare gift, it is truly one of a kind.
Fitting into the societal mold has never been a skill of theirs.
Rules and standards and ordinary limitations of life are certainly not their friends.
Hungering for the fantastical is what concerns their affairs.
A desire for new adventures, seeing what the universe has to lend.
Control over their own little world is always what they prefer.
Not many understand how they can tolerate being alone.
But living in their own world instead of his or hers,
Gives them freedom in place of conformity that some might condone.
This comes at a price, more than one, maybe a few.
A price that cannot be paid and then sent on its merry way.
These charges come embedded in minds unable to subdue.
Fees of the heart, invoking discouragement, emotionally paid.
The price of disbelief from the narrow-minded and dull.
The price of never fully reaching their heart's ultimate desire.
The price of losing childhood wonder as they grow into adults.
And the heavy price of carrying hopes that keep them from rising higher.
But these hopes, dreams, excitement over the smallest things in life,
The romanticism of the spiritual that outweigh earthly fares,
They mask the wounds of living, all the pain and all the strife.
They take the bad and make it seem good, no matter when or where.
So keep dreaming, keep smiling, live up there in the sky!
Here's to the dreamers, the airheads ridden with wanderlust!
The ones that will always be different, with no particular reason why.
Here's to the dreamers, the romantics, the escapists, the optimists,
Most importantly, here's to us.

Stunning, honestly. "Here's to us" is really inspiring. It's unbelievably hopeful and not a fluff piece. It's excellent! Definitely keep writing!

This is so wonderfully written and absolutely stunning! Your words are just so powerful! And all of your descriptions and imagery are amazing. This piece is so authentic and inspiring! Also, I really love how you repeat "Here's to the dreamers" several times throughout until the end and you switch to "Here's to us". It just completely ends the poem in a beautiful way and overall, the entire thing is so lovely to read :)

This just made me cry and I have chills omg. I love this. So much, I love it. I just gave up on my dreams because I need to be more practical but I still am a hopeless romantic and I almost always have my nose in a book and an earbud in my ear. I'm told constantly to focus on more important things than musical artists and fictional characters but they help me cope. I know it's the exact same way for others and you should never think you have to give up something you love simply because someone else is passing on their judgement. We've got this.
