Message to Readers

when you get so heated you start rhyming even though you hate rhyming sooooooo

that's the kind of day of day it's been.

felt pissed might delete later.

ALSO I've been more active than ever and have an urge to repub everything I deleted when I tried to leave in summer...thoughts? Yes? No? Maybe?

I cover the walls with statistics and equations I don't understand
but they've proven enough to furnish a room finely.
Back I receive texts with psalms, smiles encrusted, looks
I cannot take back though I've tried, you know, trust me.
I have always known I'm not enough for my friends.
I have always been aware of this
minor discrepancy but my mind is entangling into
things once said I can't change.
My house has four pillars, a Holy Bible on the shelf but dare you talk slowly
in case I misplaced my keys.
"I want one home in Cabo and one in New Orleans,
one in New York and one California."

My school is a high school, my school is a
    high
school, waiting and hopeful with air of optimism.
I dare say statistics look bleak, they respond with a
    four letter sentence or aberration.
How dare I sit on my porch bench, my science, my white horse
when there are so many other things I could put my pure trust in?
I'm not saying you're wrong and I'm right
nor you're right and I'm wrong
    but I wonder how long
I can keep up the act of not angry and smiling
when I listen to stats and you turn off television
sets like you don't care either way.
"Yes, but have you ever considered a farm?"

I dream valedictorian, prom queen at Harvard,
a throne of philosophy and psychology, mind
you I'm quite tired of
my current situation but a welcome upheaval
would be perfectly fine.
I respect situations
and knowledge, equations,
God, variations of
God, every other
thing that you'll send me;
it's fine I'll be happy
for you but I ask
for reciprocation,
so let me read my math books,
allow me my Plato
Give me ap world, let me face ap bio.
What I can't face is this, your blatant disapproval
so let me be myself, respecting and mutual
agreement, a government, friendship, a covenant,
but at the end of the day I'm just down and you're up again.
"I want one home in Cabo and one in New Orleans,
one in New York, and one California."

She smiles and touches her necklace on instinct.
I flinch because I already taste what is coming.

    "Yes, but
have you ever considered a farm?"
if you get it you get it, if not...lucky you.
it's got a rhythm but it might take a couple tries.

Re: Thank you! It’s honestly been bugging me of late, and I nearly had a panic attack over it, ngl. I’m going to ghost him for sure. I’ll feel bad, of course, because I have a guilty conscious, but I’m sure it’ll be fine. Sticking to public places when he is around though! If anything happens, bury me in a cardboard box :)

RE: oh wow! I can totally see it that way as well now! I think it all depends on what you've grown up with and yeah! I always find it really cool to see how people interpret things differently (but it also feels kind of weird when people see it differently than you intended, not weird in a bad way, but for me at least, I just feel people think I'm wiser than I actually am lol)- no prob, analyzing is fun!

RE: Awww, thank you so much! I'm glad you liked it! Also wow! I love the ending! (this is just what I interpreted and I may totally be wrong) but I see it as just a welcome reminder that life is not all about grades and tests and papers, it's about so much more and owning a farm can be as fulfilling as going to Harvard. That's just what I thought but wow! I did love that!

re: O gosh thank you!! I was planning on maybe putting the Q & A in the footnotes, but you have gotten me all rebellious, so maybe I'll just publish it and see what happens?

Re: Thank you! And yes, I only have a few more weeks so I try to do themes. I know one of them may be sports related but this week's theme is women on big stages in politics and royalty type stuff, but I will be sure to take that suggestions!

aflw;ijowfnwr;soifjdk this is an absolute masterpiece! And "when you get so heated you start rhyming even though you hate rhyming sooooooo" lol why is that almost as relatable as this piece. As for the republishing thing, yes! Please grace us with your wonderful writing once more, I've missed it! <3

re: okay so first off thank you so much for helping me--ive never done anything like this so I would love any help you are able to give. if you wouldn't mind, edits and just pointers would be awesome. But there's not any pressure--it's literally a summer project that I would like to do something with. Again, thank you so so much

you never cease to amazing, and i can't believe i didn't comment before this. this is very relatable to me, though even if it wasn't, your description of this whole story is so well done. your repetition is very nicely used, and i totally get what you said in your message board about rhyming lol. re: thanks so much for your words on my piece. the help is really appreciated:) i feel very honored to have received a comment from you haha, you're somewhat of an accomplished enigma in my head (and i mean that as a complement). i'll see if i find the motivation to use your point system, i always struggle to act on what i'd like to do. still, it means a lot. like, a lot, a lot. what i mean is: thank you.
