i close my eyes and feel the warm
of the sun rays caressing my face
and i smile because it reminds me
of you, you and those days when
we'd run and laugh until we were
holding our aching stomachs, all
of those moments when you gave
me your tender care and i gave
you mine, i can still feel the rough
of the paper note held in my hand
and the sting of the salty tears in
my eyes, you never failed to return
to your tangy sweet original state
my love for you still grows just like
the trunk of the mango tree that we
carved our hopes and dreams into

if the orange paint peels away i'll
be sure to cover it with a new coat
because it would be my worst fear
come true, if our lovely little home
were to grow cold with distance

Awwww the first part is so so sweet and then the footnotes adds such beautiful depth to the relationship. "if our lovely little home
were to grow cold with distance" was my favourite because it can be taken literally or as a metaphor. Idk why but mango tree was literally the most beautiful thing I think you could have added there.
Also, I just decided to possibly expand this one piece I wrote after I got some requests. If you have time it would really help if you checked out my plan and let me know what you think (and if not, no worries :) Here's the link,
