PROMPT: February Grab Bag

Prompt: about something that you’ve had to leave behind (~wildflower~)

    Playful, peaceful, and happy days.
Spent in sunshine,
In the peach orchards,
And in the dandelion fields.
We ran, we danced,
We sang, the most ridiculous songs.
But then a cloud came and stormed.
Blocking the sun.
Scaring away all the fun.
This was no ordinary storm,
Or we'd have danced in the lovely kaleidoscope rainbows
That brought us so much fun,
Even more than the sun.
No, this storm was brought by the inevitable.
This was a storm brewed by my Mom.
She did not approve of you.
Though your heart was pure.
Your Father's was not.
Our families once friends.
Were now, arch enemies.
I was forbidden to see you.
I was caught,
I broke the rules.
They took me away from you.
So I guess, I left you behind.
So I am sorry, for the millionth time.
I am sorry.
 
My Dad and my friend's Father were cops. His father turned out to be a dirty cop(he was dealing). So I wasn't allowed to see him, due to my mom. She was worried that he would be a bad influence. Though, now that I'm older and I understand more. I never got to tell him goodbye, or why I never called. I still feel like I abandoned him...

    Oh my gosh, that sounds horrible! (Although that’s AMAZING that your dad is a cop! Tell him that some of us on WtW are so glad he’s doing that!) I don’t think you should feel like you abandoned him... That would be a really difficult decision for your mom to make. I feel like that would be terrible.
    This piece is really well-written, by the way. Great job!
