This was the first time I tried singing overcoming the fear of what others are going to comment. I learned a lot from it and that's what matters

Jenny, last leaf of a tree

February 20, 2021

Verse 1
malicious nightmares
insomnia rushed down her feet, despair
Even airs whispers with pain.
her mother always said, “big cities are a quagmire”
Jenny didn’t listen

fingers bleed,
pressing on piano keys, red
she felt the pain and wept

Pre-Chorus 1
Words slipped off her skin,
like his hand in her abode.
her skin's purity dissolve into fading noises

can’t figure out the difference between a guest and a thief

Chorus
last leaf of a tree
waiting for the wind to hit it like sorrow hit jenny

demons inside of him, she
was cut and swallowed, (jenny)
like the pinch of thousand honey bees,
fort made with cinder of thousand willow trees

Verse 2
News headlines about a girl twenty,
didn’t do any good,
hurt her feelings, it’s so scary
they care about views, not jenny

Verse 3
poetry is healing
but her body isn't a metaphor
enormity too heavy to carry around,
it’s her body, she is bound
to live with it

Bridge
don’t treat her with sympathy, empathy
don’t treat her like a patient
give her freedom, believe, let her dream

Chorus 2
last leaf of a tree
waiting for the wind to hit it like sorrow hit jenny

demons inside of him, she
was cut and swallowed, (jenny)
like the pinch of thousand honey bees,
fort made with cinder of thousand willow trees

Outro
last leaf of the tree fell down
flickering street lights
cinder of thousand willow trees have drowned
The chorus line is inspired by  "I am slowly learning that the things you promised me are burning like the embers of a thousand willow trees" from Knife in My Back by Alec Benjamin

wow. it tells such a moving and painful story. the title reminds me a little of carrie underwood's song "church bells"
    "poetry is healing
but her body isn't a metaphor"
i mean how do you come up with such vividly beautiful lines?
