Hey, this is one of the first lyric things I've done. I'm used to writing poetry, so this is a new thing for me, but I hope I can get some good feedback. Looking forward to adding the recording soon. Thanks.

She's Like Alaska (with a recording now)

February 3, 2021

Verse One

I don’t love what she does
But I love who she could be
The girl that I once knew
Who she was with me
I can’t let go
Cause I’m scared if she falls
I’ll be the first one
The ambulance calls
I keep my phone beside me
And never on silent
She’s one of the reckless
The young and the violent.

Chorus

She’s like Alaska

But harder to find
What’s going on in her
Tangled up mind?
I wish I knew
I wish I didn’t care
What she was thinking
And if all was fair
She’d be the mountains
And I’d be the sea
And she would always
Be waiting for me.

Verse Two

I know it’s not perfect
And I’d never pretend
That I’m what she needs
But at least I’m still her friend
I didn’t leave
When the world tumbled down
The most I can do
Is be here on the ground
While she stares at the sky
And while a shadow holds her hand
I’m not an angel
But they’re in high demand

Chorus

She’s like Alaska

But harder to find
What’s going on in her
Tangled up mind?
I wish I knew
I wish I didn’t care
What she was thinking
And if all was fair
She’d be the mountains
And I’d be the sea
And she would always
Be waiting for me.

Verse Three

I know it’s more dangerous
For us to walk to the brink
But as we play balance
It does make us think
Of the days she never
Tried too hard to pretend
That she was what she isn’t
That she knows how far to bend
Just enough without breaking
Just enough to fit in
Priceless and fragile
A breathtaking ten
I wish she knew
How much more she’ll risk
I don’t want our memories
On a funeral disk

Chorus

She’s like Alaska
But harder to find
What’s going on in her
Tangled up mind?
I wish I knew
I wish I didn’t care
What she was thinking
And if all was fair
She’d be the mountains
And I’d be the sea
And she would always
Be waiting for me.

i'm in LOVE with the chorus...the verses are so nice too, not to depreciate how good those are...i love it all ;)
also, i saw you were confused on how to reply, you might've already been told this, but in case you haven't, go to someone else's piece (any of them) type, "re:" and then your response as a comment!! if you don't mind, could you check out my song? i'm doing it more so to expand on my songwriting knowledge (bc i have absolutely none rn XD) than for the competition, but i'd really appreciate any feedback at all!!
