Please, please, please let me know what you think. I would really appreciate it.

Ice-cream on a Sunday

February 14, 2021

I never imagined
I'd one day find my way back to you,
Never thought,
My skin would know yours once more,
My ears would hear your laughter,
My hands the softness of yours.
I didn't know,
I would again know your embrace,
Because a while ago,
The thought of all this,
Brought so much pain.

But now, here I am,
Next to you,
Passenger seat,
Of your blue Toyota,
Licking vanilla ice-cream
Singing and laughing,
You laugh with me too
And sing along to the happy tune.

Hands touch
Skins graze,
My heart stays the same,
I realise,
I'm no longer moved by you.

My hand in yours
No longer makes my heart jump.
My skin against yours
No longer boils my blood
The sound of your laugh
No longer resonates in my bones
Your embrace, familiar,
But no longer a second home.
I always thought
You would be in me forever,
But now I seem,
To be free of you.

And now, here I am
Next to you
Passenger seat
Of your blue Toyota
Licking vanilla ice-cream
Singing and laughing,
You laugh with me too,
And sing along to the happy tune.

Hands touch,
Skins graze
Heart beats the same,
And I realise,
I am no longer moved by you.

And although,
The part of me that was you
No longer exists,
I smile as I look at you
No more with love,
No more with hate,
Not with anything,
I can finally see you.

Hands touch
Skins graze
Heart stays the same
And I realise,
With a smile on my face,
I am no longer moved by you.
