Known figures of the past,
But with history that didn’t last;
Hamilton was never satisfied,
Antoinette was dead before forty five,
Joan of Arc burned alive.

In the history books,
They’ll pity us
Like we used to pity them
About the great things we never did.
Gone too soon they’ll say,
Before moving on with their day.

    i love history from a modern pov and the rhyming and the surprisingly haunting message of this. like, this gets me thinking. we think we're so enlightened and clever—and there are some things that are absolutely genius, and things have moved ever-rapidly since the rise of the internet—but what are we missing? they thought themselves pretty brilliant 300 years ago.
    re: and tysm for the kind comment on my piece! i'm loving mxmtoon's music. quiet motions is one of my favorites off the top of my head.
