those who’d stayed opened up their umbrellas and left
those who were in line chattered nonstop
cutting in the silence were cracks of popcorns
in the mouth    with soft echoes

when the lights were turned on
the world became dazzling
we didn’t talk    yet
put down the already cold drinks
and snacks
in much sync
and fled the scene

the cinema was like a lurking beast
we by chance escaped its tusks
floating onto the street   we opened our umbrellas
and walked in silence —
your tiptoe brushing against my heel

"the cinema was like a lurking beast
we by chance escaped its tusks" - This is stunning! I'm a sucker for unusual comparisons, the kind that makes you think for a while, and then, think some more.
"your tiptoe brushing against my heel" - This is adorable! And lovely use of tactile imagery here. :)
