Hidden Reefs

I am a navigator of the ship.
My eyes are set on the stars,
for where can one go without them?

Maybe my mind is playing tricks,
but I tell you that the stars move.
They're drifting, and so are we.

Will someone cry out?
We are going to become
pieces dashed on the hidden reefs.

Will someone turn the ship around?
The crashing waves are swallowing us,
drowning us in the foam of shame.

Will someone speak the truth, before it's too late?
Before we have been tricked by the wandering stars?

Jude 1:12-13
These are hidden reefs at your love feasts, as they feast with you without fear, shepherds feeding themselves; waterless clouds, swept along by winds; fruitless trees in late autumn, twice dead, uprooted; wild waves of the sea, casting up the foam of their own shame; wandering stars, for whom the gloom of utter darkness has been reserved forever.

Woah, it's only a week till Christmas, so you start decorating. You start to hang ornaments, with music playing in the background. Suddenly, an ad comes up, "Are you looking for Chapter 8? Then click on the link to find out more!"

Amazing. Gosh, how are all of your poems so profound, evocative and amazing??! I love the last stanza, and the phrase “wandering stars” just makes my heart explode (those are two of my favourite words)

re: I know! I can't decide. Probably English or literature (or Latin, though I doubt I would be good enough.) I'm glad you enjoyed my piece!
