Message from Writer

wtw parent to that one rat from ratatouille
say hi to these cool people: Wisp, rwong, and em wilder

"My work is loving the world.
Here the sunflowers, there the hummingbird--
equal seekers of sweetness.
Here the quickening yeast; there the blue plums.
Here the clam deep in the speckled sand."
- "Messenger", Mary Oliver

"And I will show that nothing can happen more beautiful than death,
And I will thread a thread through my poems that time and event are compact,
And that all the things of the universe are perfect miracles, each as profound as any."
-Song of Myself (Leaves of Grass, Walt Whitman)

i stepped into my mind #Decemberprompts3

December 3, 2020

i stepped into my mind. it looked dim, dark,
and the floorboards creaked. stepping between
the rafters, i coughed on the dusty air.
sunlight streamed through the small round windows, and
sent memories swirling through the air.
shelves of thoughts, images, and feelings,
stacked three or four boxes high,
clutter the walls and reach towards the ceiling.
old clothes hang from the rafters, and
dreams pile up onto the floor.
i make my way to the window and open it wide, letting
the wind toss the curtains, letting the breeze
rustle through the pages of unwritten stories
the air smells like pine needles, and i close my eyes.
there's no sound but the birdsong, echoing from nowhere,
and stumbling notes of the piano song i learned
the sun is warm on my face as i stand in the small attic
lost in my mind, i'm transported back in time.
Thanks again to Samina for her amazing prompt and piece "If I entered my mind"! Go check her out, she's amazing!
Hope you guys liked this. What would you find if you were to go into your mind? Lmk! :)

re:re: the first time i saw snow it was last February in Tennessee. it was 32 when i woke up yesterday and my fingers were turning blue :( i'm amazed at the adaptability of northerners, but yall accent kinda odd to here, especially when the big city northerners that come down here aren't overly polite.

The title of this one reminds me of a aottsisfts poem that I deleted to rewrite. It was, "I step out of my head on purpose,
    do you?"
I think I rewrote it as the now poem no.5

omg this piece is gorgeous and so is the prompt.... it immediately got me thinking. the way you described this is amazing and inspiring! "lost in my mind, i'm transported back in time." is such a powerful way to end it. and re: thank you so much, i'm glad you liked it! i'm glad the "(soft," lines didn't take away from the stanza:D
