"My work is loving the world.
Here the sunflowers, there the hummingbird--
equal seekers of sweetness.
Here the quickening yeast; there the blue plums.
Here the clam deep in the speckled sand."
- "Messenger", Mary Oliver

"And I will show that nothing can happen more beautiful than death,
And I will thread a thread through my poems that time and event are compact,
And that all the things of the universe are perfect miracles, each as profound as any."
-Song of Myself (Leaves of Grass, Walt Whitman)

falling short of the stars

everything around me shines with a dusty, forgotten type of glow,
as if it's only light out when the world needs it to be
and the sun only shines when asked. i
want to resurrect this fallen planet, this shooting star that
hit the ground. we will rise and we will be beautiful once more.
and it's still beautiful, if you know where too look --
over rooftops where the sky seems to melt into the trees;
through the forest and streams, following the sunlight paths;
deep in oceans and swamps and rivers, flowing and shifting;
under the cover of the night, searching where the neon signs flicker;
i'll find beauty in what once was, because it's not quite gone and
maybe we can make this world light again -- yes, we will make it beautiful
and life is a lie, this is all we've got left, in shaking hands and
broken pencils. heaven exists on the other side of the door,
and my hand is glued to the knob -- but it's not my time because
i haven't left myself behind. i linger here too much, where
the stars are stories, plastered against the night sky, and
stolen glimpses of who we are over the only real parts of life, and
words glance from my ears over the shouts of reality, where
i exist but in a daze. and all i can pray
is to be beautiful, let me be beautiful god i wanna be beautiful

letting go isn't as easy as it used to be
sorry if this is completely incoherent, i wrote it pretty late last night... idrk why i'm posting it here, i guess probably because it's the only substantial thing i've written in the past three days...? well, hope you like it anyways. (hey, that rhymed!) <33

    ahh this is so beautiful and hmmm
    "everything around me shines with a dusty, forgotten type of glow" um this is absolutely genius and beautiful.how did you think of this?!i wish i wrote it
    under the cover of the night, searching where the neon signs flicker;
    "i'll find beauty in what once was, because it's not quite gone" idhdkdub this is so beautiful and it is touching something in me...if that makes sense...maybe i feel understood,its sort of very relatable.like when something or a feeling that you cant explain,and you find it layed out to you in a poem..its one of the most delicious and satisfying feelings everr.
    "and life is a lie, this is all we've got left, in shaking hands and broken pencils" eek this is so pure and lovely.i have my own take as to what this means though..im curious to know what you meant ,saying life is a lie?
    "i haven't left myself behind. i linger here too much, where the stars are stories, plastered against the night sky" idhdnsksbn stop calling me outtt
    "stolen glimpses of who we are over the only real parts of life," this is so unreal.the part that starts from "over" adds so much more meaning and depth.
    "i exist but in a daze. and all i can pray
    is to be beautiful, let me be beautiful god i wanna be beautiful" so painfully relatable.
    i love this piece:)<3

    Hey! I don't know if you've watched it or not, but I see you're a theatre geek.... Anyways, I just watched Hamilton! I loved it, and wrote a piece on it... I hope you can take a look!

    Okay I lied bc I have to shout out these lines too:
    "i'll find beauty in what once was, because it's not quite gone and
    maybe we can make this world light again"
    "i linger here too much, where
    the stars are stories, plastered against the night sky"

    HOW do you always have the best hooks?! Dang girl!
    I tried to highlight more favorite parts but couldn't figure out where to finish the highlight because this entire thing is incredible.
